None has been found since the rescue of 58 sailors from warships of Cheonan, which sank near the border with North Korea on Saturday. The cause of the explosion is unclear.
A survivor, Sergeant Shin Eun-chong, 24, told relatives he was working the night shift when he heard a huge explosion behind him to break the vessel, which was on patrol with other vessels in the Yellow Sea on the west coast of South Korea. It sank about three hours after the explosion.
Fierce waves and strong winds hampered search efforts in the area where the two Koreas naval battles.
North Korea does not appear to be involved in the explosion.
The blast destroyed the rear of the hull Cheonan, and stop the engine and power.
Military ships and Coast Guard helicopters and search the sea yesterday, but divers have been stimulated by strong currents.
South Korean President Lee Myung-bak has ordered officials to investigate the collapse and try to rescue survivors.
While the hope faded for the missing crew, some 80 family members aboard a patrol boat crossed the sea around the area and observed the rescue.
"My son, my son," she cried, cried.
